Elizabeth Laidler

Managing Director

Elizabeth established Encore Communications in 2009

A classical musician by training, she made the move into marketing communications following postgraduate studies at Trinity College of Music, London, where an inspirational ‘Business For Musicians’ course proved more interesting than her daily diet of musicology, theory and historical performance practice!

Since entering the profession in 2002 as press and marketing assistant for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Elizabeth has worked in both in-house and agency environments; creating and managing successful regional, national and international campaigns for clients across a variety of sectors including professional services, education, the arts, lobbying, engineering, leisure and retail.

Elizabeth is responsible for the day-to-day running of the business. She oversees all Encore Communications’ activity and remains ‘hands on’ with several accounts, delivering integrated media relations, social media, digital marketing, crisis communications and marketing strategy work for clients.

Nominated for the CIPR’s Outstanding Young Communicator (UK) award in 2006, Elizabeth is a graduate of Common Purpose’s Meridian course for senior leaders, a CIM-qualified marketer and member of the Public Relations Consultancy Association.

Andrea has over 15 years’ experience in both in-house and agency PR and communications roles spanning the business-to-business, consumer and public sectors.

Most recently Head of Communications for NEC Group, she has extensive experience working with high-profile brands, including FTSE100 companies, developing strategies for clients across industries as diverse as engineering, aerospace, homes & gardens and gambling.

With a strong portfolio of marketing skills: from PR, lobbying and stakeholder relations to advertising, crisis and internal communications, she is used to leading communications teams and comfortable reporting to senior management, board and commercial partners.

A B2B PR professional with over 20 years’ experience, Bernice advises internal and external stakeholders on media relations, corporate communications and issues management. She has an extensive track record in devising and implementing issues-led PR strategies/campaigns across national, regional and trade media, predominantly in-house in the professional services sector.

Sonya Bell

PR & Communications Consultant

A journalist by training, Sonya has a wealth of experience working with B2B and B2C clients, covering media relations, social media and prize-winning award nominations.

Sonya currently sits on the Board of Birmingham Press Club – the oldest pre ss club in the world – and works across a variety of client accounts as well as supporting Encore’s own marketing activities.

Sam Pennell

PR & Events Consultant

With over 10 years experience in the sector, Sam is our go to woman for B2C PR and marketing. She has planned and delivered high-profile, award-winning campaigns for national and regional brands and also has extensive event management experience, producing high-impact events from conferences and exhibitions to launch parties and award ceremonies.

Stacey Humm

Social media and business development

Stacey manages our social media accounts and can also be spotted out and about at the various events and exhibitions Encore attends.

Having begun her career as a practising litigation solicitor, she later took on a business development role and now works to help businesses grow.

With a strong focus on the client’s viewpoint and challenges, Stacey provides a valuable non-agency perspective, making sure our campaigns stay right on track.

Ryan Marter

Graphic Designer

Ryan brings 10 years’ design experience to the team, specialising in logo design and branding for start-ups and small businesses.

His experience covers a range of sectors: from architecture, retail and IT to PR, marketing, fitness, accounting, food and engineering. He works regularly with The Princes’ Trust and is our ‘go to’ man for anything visual – adding his unique design flair to any commission.

Shirley Hoare

Administration and special projects

Shirley is our organiser extraordinaire, helping the team with a variety of administrative tasks while also getting involved in a range of projects, from exhibitions and events to new business activity. She can usually be found hounding our MD  for the latest information we need to promote the business and keeping us on task when we need to be practising what we preach!
