Sigma develops Centre of Excellence for pipe manufacturing

Aerospace manufacturer, Sigma Components, has developed a Centre of Excellence for pipe manufacturing across two of its UK manufacturing facilities.

The specialist facilities at Sigma’s Hinckley and Nuneaton sites will serve as a Centre of Excellence for the company’s global pipe manufacturing operation, which was grown significantly following the acquisition of Rolls-Royce’s pipe manufacturing business earlier this year.

As part of the development, Sigma has also relocated its composite pipe programme to Nuneaton, bringing together all its UK specialist pipe manufacturing expertise.

Mark Johnson, founder and CEO of Sigma Components, said:  “This is the latest in a string of exciting strategic developments for the company.

“We already have an established manufacturing presence in the UK and China, and our ambitious growth strategy includes plans to bring this world-class service to even more customers around the world.

“The pipe manufacturing Centre of Excellence is a truly market-leading facility, allowing us to bring together specialists across this key product area to drive improvements in traditional pipe manufacture, and innovation in new pipe technology.

“The SigmaLite brand, which includes our flagship composite aero-engine pipe delivering weight savings of 50% over traditionally-manufactured pipes, is already causing a stir across the industry and we’re excited by the potential this product area offers our business.
